What is Kuchipudi?
Kuchipudi is a classical Indian dance-drama originating from the village of Kuchipudi in Andhra Pradesh. One of eight classical dance forms recognised by India's Sangeet Natak Akademi, it combines intricate abhinaya (expressive mime), nritta (pure dance), and nritya (interpretive dance).
Rooted in Hindu mythology and the Bhagavata Mela tradition, Kuchipudi narrates stories from the Puranas and epics with distinctive footwork, eye movements, and ornate costume.
